Literary Connection
While EALT’s website provides all manner of useful information about conservation, issues and opportunities, it is not written with the kind of impact that published literature may have. Thus EALT developed a relationship with Grant MacEwan University’s Centre for the Arts and Communications, aimed at generating written perspectives from undergraduate students involving a link to conservation – a literature connection.
The product of this collaboration has been the Earth Common Journal.
EALT’s perspective on the development of this initiative can be found on the Journal’s EALT Connection page.
The project was formally launched in 2010, and members of the peer-review committee were invited to present, including EALT. The presentation by EALT can be found here. Grant MacEwan is hosting the Journal on their website, and we are pleased to see that they have used EALT’s idea to use art and music as a way of displaying emotional or instinctual connections with complex topics related to the environment.
The topics are related to themes of conservation, climate change and sustainability, and conservation has a role in all of them.
