Congratulations to all EALT's Earth Ambassadors – of special note were Meika’s Birdhouse, Wild Birds Unlimited, and Wildbird General Store – whose exemplary actions benefit the earth by supporting the conservation of local nature, in honour of Earth Hour. All Earth Ambassadors raised funds and awareness to help the Edmonton and Area Land Trust conserve local natural areas.
Our particular congratulations go to Wild Birds Unlimited, the recipient of this year’s unique Earth Ambassador Award!
Wild Birds Unlimited hosted EALT, along with the Beaver Hill Bird Observatory, and Provincial Wildlife Status Biologist Gordon Court with his two live owls in store, to raise awareness for local conservation. They promoted a fundraiser in store and gave away owl mugs for donations to EALT of $25 or more.
The Earth Ambassador Program was developed to encourage partnerships with local businesses to build support for nature conservation, in honour of Earth Hour. This benefits the community, local residents, wildlife and the environment.
The award recipient is chosen by a committee of EALT Board Members, and this year’s Earth Ambassadors didn’t make it an easy choice, since all ambassadors are winners in this program, and their efforts to support local nature conservation are hugely appreciated and reflect each business’s dedication to environmental stewardship.
A big thank you to all Earth Ambassadors for all that you do for the local environment and conservation. Your businesses are truly outstanding members of our community.
