What wonderful things can you discover outside in nature? We want you to get outside to explore the beauty of nature.

Your Backyard

Get outside and explore! There's so much to see, even in your own backyard. Take a close look at the grass, flowers, and trees. See what critters you can find - bugs, worms, birds.

Did you see a bird but don't know what type it is? Use National Geographic's Backyard Bird Identifier or download the Merlin app to figure out what type of bird is living next to you.

Your Neighbourhood

Venture into your neighbourhood to see more of what nature has to offer. Your local neighbourhood parks with playgrounds usually have trees, gardens, hills, wood chips or water. What can you find there?

Whether it's a neighbourhood playground or urban green space, you can find nature not far from home. Look up your nearest park in Edmonton, or visit the beautiful river valley. Find other parks, trails and natural spaces in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Devon, LeducCamroseSherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, St. Albert, and Morinville.

EALT Conservation Lands

Are you feeling more adventurous? Visit one of EALT's Conservation Lands. Several of our natural areas have well maintained trails, perfect for a family outing.

Try visiting Boisvert's GreenWoods, Glory Hills, Hicks or Pipestone Creek.

Nature Education Centres and Events

For close up glimpses of wildlife, and to learn more about nature, visit the John Janzen Nature Centre, Muttart Conservatory, or Valley Zoo.
