Stained Glass Bird

This colourful craft is fun to make, and it will also help keep birds safe by preventing them from hitting your windows! Sometimes, if your windows are very clean, a bird will not be able to see it while it is flying and may crash and get injured. Placing this fun craft in the window will make sure birds will always see it and fly away safe!

What You’ll Need:

  • A bird outline template (ask a parent to draw one, or download one from the internet)

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Tissue paper

  • String or tape

What To Do:

  1. Find a bird template and print out the size you want.

  2. Make sure you have a nice and thick outline by tracing over it with a black marker a few times.

  3. Cut around the outside of the black outline and the inside so all you have is the bird outline.

  4. Fill the center with colourful tissue paper using the scissors and glue.

  5. Cut off any excess tissue paper that is outside the black outline.

  6. Hang your stained-glass bird in a window! Use string to hang the decoration, or tape it directly to the window.

Ask Yourself:

  • Where should you place the decoration, so the birds will notice it?

  • What are other ways you can prevent birds from hitting your window?
