Moose can be found at all of Edmonton and Area Land Trust's conservation lands, so having a moose as our mascot was an obvious choice!
The name means moose in the Cree language. môswa is pronounced "moo-SWA", with the emphasis on the second syllable. Click here to hear how to pronounce it.
Since EALT operates in Treaty 6 lands, and we acknowledge that Indigenous Peoples were the original stewards of these lands, we thought (and so did you through your votes) that this name for our mascot would be fitting way to pay tribute.
