EALT Seeks Board Members

The Edmonton and Area Land Trust (EALT) – a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving local natural areas to benefit this region – is seeking up to three skilled professionals to join our Board of Directors.

EALT envisions an Edmonton region where natural area systems are valued; preserved for future generations; and play a key role in the social, economic, and environmental life of the residents of the area. We conserve natural areas by accepting donated lands, stewarding them in perpetuity, building partnerships, and developing educational outreach.

Since 2008, EALT has secured and stewards 7 properties in 6 municipalities, and we want to expand the knowledge and input available when the Board of Directors is making strategic decisions. Do you want to add your perspective and talents?

The Board of Directors provide leadership and direction to EALT, and oversees its management and performance. Directors are appointed for one to three years, and have a flexible schedule to accommodate 6 luncheon meetings per year, held in Edmonton. Directors volunteer for an average of 5 hours per month reviewing materials, providing advice, assisting on sub-committees and attending events.

Natural areas support a range of values including: health, economic, child & family development, cultural, scenic, and environmental. Since they benefit a broad spectrum of groups, we aim to include a wide range of expertise and perspectives on our Board. EALT is currently seeking directors with any of the following: community connections, sustainability planning, business, entrepreneurial, fundraising, marketing, and event organization skills or experience.

Applicants could be from any background, if they are passionate about nature conservation and are prepared to take action to help EALT achieve our goals, and to further conservation efforts.

As a volunteer, we greatly value your time and appreciate your dedication towards conserving our natural heritage. Besides personal thanks, your contributions will be recognized in our Annual Report and on the Board of Directors section of our website. You will also be invited to attend our annual Volunteer Appreciation event, and other social gatherings.

Applications should be sent to Pam Wight, EALT's Executive Director, at pamwight@ealt.ca by July 4, 2016.
