The Earth Ambassador Program was developed to encourage new partnerships with local businesses to build support for nature conservation, in honour of Earth Hour. This benefits the community, local residents, wildlife and the environment.

One of the exemplary businesses was chosen to receive our very first Earth Ambassador Award. Thanks to EALT volunteer Jamie McQuarrie, for designing and constructing this stunning award to present to the winning business.

And what better day than Earth Day for Councillor Andrew Knack to join us at City Hall to present the award to Ian Sprague of Meika's Birdhouse. Meika's Birdhouse donated 15% of proceeds from sales this past March 19th, in honour of Earth Hour.

Thank you to all of our Earth Ambassadors who participated in the program, including the Wildbird General Store who donated proceeds from seed sales, and Accenture, who are volunteering staff time for a special project. All participants are presented with an Earth Ambassador Certificate.

We look forward to expanding this program in the years to come. If you're a business interested in participating in next year's Earth Ambassador Program, email Steph at steph@ealt.ca.
