Kids can help Pollinators too!

We had a great time last week at Strathcona County Library and at Nature Alberta's Family Nature Nights teaching kids about pollinators. About 100 kids learned about solitary bees, how bees pollinate (with the help of some Cheetos!) and built their own small bee hotel to put in their back yard.

Kids loved the hands-on activities, and parents said they learned a little something too! See the whole story below in pictures.

You can build your own bee hotel at home too! Try a simple milk carton version, or build something more complex. Visit our website for more ideas.

Looking for something to do with the little kids this summer? Check out our brand new Bee and Pollinator Activity booklet for kids to find some cute ideas.

We're grateful to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation and the Sitka Foundation for grants that make this project possible.
