Kory deGroot recently joined EALT to take over Steph’s position as the Conservation Outreach Coordinator while she is on maternity leave. Kory will be helping EALT with outreach, volunteer coordination, partnership building, land conservation and external stakeholders. Since graduating from university 6 years ago, Kory worked as an Environmental Scientist for a local consulting company.
Kory holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with a concentration in biology (King’s University) and has been working toward achieving his Environmental Professional designation with ECO Canada. Kory enjoyed volunteering with the former Greater Edmonton Alliance to raise awareness of Edmonton’s agricultural land and the importance of preserving it.
Kory is passionate about Edmonton and the natural world and is very excited to help with EALT’s conservation efforts in Edmonton while inspiring Edmontonians and Albertans to understand the value of our natural heritage and join stewarding it. In his free time, Kory explores Edmonton’s immense river valley or enjoys a meal at one of Edmonton’s new restaurants. His favourites at the moment are The Common and Biera. Most of the time you’ll find him with his camera in tow, promoting Edmonton through Instagram. If you ever need a suggestion for a place to eat or something to do in Edmonton, Kory would be more than happy to help!
