Notice RE: Carpooling to EALT Events
Edmonton and Area Land Trust is not responsible for organizing or coordinating the transportation of volunteers to events held at EALT properties. If volunteers wish to arrange amongst themselves for shared rides (carpooling) to EALT events they are free to do so but the following policies shall apply to such efforts:
Volunteers wishing to offer a ride or requesting a ride for an EALT event or activity may do so through the Volunteer Portal.
If you are looking to carpool as part of the Conservation Land Stewards or Citizen Science programs, use the applicable Committee to email the other volunteers in these programs (e.g. CLS - Land, or CS - Amphibian Monitoring Group/Bat Box Monitoring Group).
If you are looking to carpool to an event, email the event organizer listed in the event description, and request to arrange carpooling. The organizer will set up a Committee in the Volunteer Portal for that event, and you can use it to contact the other volunteers to arrange carpooling.
Notes about Committees: Committee messages are sent as BCC emails to those active in a volunteer program (Conservation Land Stewards or Citizen Science) or those registered for a stewardship event, and recipients can then respond to the original sender. Each reply will only go directly to the sender.
If you do not reply to or send a message, your email will not be visible to any other participants. If you do not wish to be included in the committee and receive emails from other participants, email us and we will remove you.
EALT’s insurance does not cover anyone who enters into a carpool arrangement to attend an EALT event or activity. Anyone participating in a carpool is responsible for their own insurance.
Carpool arrangements are the sole responsibility of interested drivers and passengers. EALT will not be involved in making or coordinating any carpool arrangements.
EALT does not do background checks on any volunteers for criminal records, driver records, vehicle insurance records and vehicle safety. It is the responsibility of anyone interested in a carpool arrangement with other EALT volunteers to satisfy themselves directly of any such matters in respect of the persons they are going to be carpooling with.
Anyone who enters into a carpool arrangement to attend an EALT event accepts all risks of damages or injuries arising from the carpool arrangement; and shall indemnify and hold harmless EALT if EALT should for any reason suffer any damages or losses arising from the carpool arrangement.
By communicating with event/program participants to offer a ride or request a ride to an EALT event/activity I am thereby acknowledging that I have read this Notice and that I agree with the provisions of this Notice.
