The Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations is featuring different charities as part of a blog series related to volunteerism. The United Nations has declared 2026 the International Volunteer Year (IVY 2026) to recognize volunteerism as a key driver of sustainable development.
We are thankful they chose to feature EALT and could interview one of our dedicated volunteers.
“Brett describes his first experience with EALT as a bit of childhood reminiscing. “I’ve been passionate about nature for a long time – ever since I was a little kid. I would go look for new places to explore.” He started by volunteering at a couple events, helping to remove invasive species on some of EALT’s conservation lands. He would then return later to the conservation lands and send trip reports, noting things like broken fences or animal tracks and other observations…”
