North Saskatchewan Nature Walk and Weeding

Restoration efforts at one of our newest lands are well underway! This beautiful property on the tablelands of the North Saskatchewan River is now home to hundreds of newly-planted trees and shrubs. While it will be some time before these saplings turn into towering trees, we need to do our best to ensure they have a good chance of success. This will involve controlling invasive weeds near the fresh plantings, as they could compromise the future health of the saplings.

This conservation land is not yet open to the public, so we will send the volunteers who register the location multiple days in advance of the event. It is roughly located 30 minutes from west Edmonton, near Bunchberry Meadows.

Accessibility

This event will involve a medium level of physical exertion. Activities will include:

  • Bending/kneeling to pull weeds

  • Walking roughly 4 km over mostly flat but uneven terrain

  • Carrying supplies for yourself for the day in your bag or backpack
